Breaking the monotony of the same old pre made & non-customized buffets – Mamagoto, the popular pan Asian chain presents Anti Buffet – an innovation that is against the idea of traditional buffet. Anti-buffet gives the customers the luxury of choosing what they want and how they want with their assortment of fresh vegetables and different kinds of meat. The concept is similar to that of a typical Asian hawker market that includes a series of live stations like the live wok station, Asian salad station, live grills, soups & dumplings etc.
Was happy to have been invited for the preview where the spread along with the quirky ambience and attentive staff added to the entire experience. Started off with Khow Suey which can be customized by choosing your own condiments of Noodles, Tofu, Chicken, fried peanuts etc. Absolutely loved this Burmese delicacy so much that I could only binge on this one pot Khow Suey for the entire buffet. The other soup option was a sweet corn soup that was decent enough.
Next up was a wide variety of appetizers, dumplings, fried wontons and Satay of which I loved the Konjee Crispy Vegetable, Fried fish with fragrant chilli sauce, chicken winglets in chilli bean sauce and Chicken Satay. The satay was slightly dry but that immediately corrected by the staff and was served with peanut sauce. The steamed dumplings were super good and the sauces served complimented it well.
Next up was Som Tam & Thai Chicken Salad and they were as authentic as it could get. More than anything I was excited about the Teppanyaki counter where one could choose between different meats, sauces & vegetables and they are prepared right before your eyes. Experimented Chicken with Pontu sauce and assorted vegetables in Hibachi Sauce, the result was delicious!
The mains included Pan Fried Chinese greens with Burnt Garlic sauce, Supreme Vegetables in aromatic chilli garlic sauce, Thai Green Curry and Fried Tofu in Chilli Black bean sauce for Vegetarians and for the Non-Vegetarians fish in Toban-Djan sauce, Prawns in red curry, Chicken in Schzwan sauce and Konjee Crispy Lamb. Thai Green Curry with steamed rice and Konjee Crispy Lamb was my pick among the mains.
The meal ended with Chocolate spring roll, honey noodle with almond flakes and assorted fruits for desserts. The desserts spread could’ve been more exciting.
On the service front, the staff were literally on their toes to make sure each and every minute things were taken care off. Special mention about Satya Dixit who went out of his way to make sure to accommodate our requests and also take the feedback in positive stride.
Priced at Rs 499 + taxes from Mon – Friday for lunch, the spread barring the desserts is truly worth it! Its great to see mamgoto create a paradigm shift and give the customers an alternative to the mundane, old fashioned buffets. The New way to lunch on the weekends is now the Anti-Buffet way – A Buffet with a twist !!
Thumbs up for this one !
