Asian Food Festival – Collage, Hyatt Gachibowli

Asian food has been a hot favorite amongst the Indians for the longest time. The ongoing Asian Food Festival at Collage, Hyatt Gachibowli is your one stop place to relish a wide variety of tastings from Asian cultures such as Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia & Philippines. Passing on his magic to the food, Chef Anand – Executive Chef has crafted a beautiful menu which includes the best of Asian Food.

Happy to have been invited for a bloggers table where the best of the menu was on offer to elite our palate. Started off with a refreshing Thai Iced Tea that was well presented with its bright color and the layers formed by the soy milk. The subtle flavors of this ice tea paired quite well with the flavorful dishes that followed for the afternoon.

First up was the Indonesian Beef Satay that triumphed in taste and carried a heavy load of flavor which was well balanced with the crunchy peanut sauce. The Thai styled Fish cakes was a meal in itself with the sweet chilli sauce paired along. Delicious, filling and imbued with exotic flavors this Thai snack ticked all the boxes.

With Malayisan & Thai appetizers already relished I was curious about the next to follow. The Korean styled Steamed Tofu served with Lemon Chilli sauce was quite comforting such that you could actually taste the robust blend of lemony and chilli sauce that overall enhanced the flavor of the tofu. There was also Crispy congee mushroom that was served with sticky, sweet and savory honey chilli sauce which were quite addictive and literally Oh-so-Tasty!

The main course on offer had a wonderful collection of the best of Asian cuisine.  First up was the Fish curry with coconut and turmeric which was authentic with all the flavors lemongrass, galangal and the thai red chillies for just the right level of spice heat. A little helping of steamed rice and this Thai Curry and you know you are in food heaven. Next up was the Malaysian stir fried chicken cooked in homemade curry paste. The use of shrimp paste in the recipe had just the right blend of spices for this authentic Malaysian-tasting that went quite well with Chaw Kew Twe – flat noodle tossed in kecup manis.

Lamb with roasted chilli paste & basil that followed next easily was my favorite and perhaps the star of the afternoon.  This thai street food, a classic in itself paired well with Kaho Pad Kraphao – a thai styled fried rice with vegetables. A small helping of fried rice on the side and it would’ve been a great thai meal.

The cold and refreshing Tub tim grob – a thai dessert of water chestnut and Five spice flavor chocolate mousse summed up the gastronomical Asian affair. A special mention about the chocolate mousse which was an intense chocolate with five spices, slightly airy and served with a dash of mango compote that compliments the intense flavor of spices. Loved it !

The Asian Food Festival is on at Collage, Hyatt Gachibowli until the 18th of June and promises a ride through the exciting and varied cuisines of Asia – a gustatory journey which one shouldn’t miss.
