Was happy to have been invited for a preview few weeks ago. Located in the upmarket Forum Mall in kukatpally, Barcelos recently shifted their business model from high streets to malls and this is one such format.

The interiors of Barcelos is tastefully done with a variety of canvas paintings and interesting wall artefacts. The lighting, the wooden planks and the artifacts very well depict the theme of Portugal. The bar counter is vibrant and huge while the walls are filled with expressive murals that narrate a unique story.

We started off with the signature chicken platter that came with drumsticks, thigh, liver, chicken breast etc. The four assorted peri peri sauce (Mild Peri, Veri Peri, Super Peri and Tangy Lemon) on the tables will surely enhance the taste.

Was pleasantly surprised to see the arabaic mezze platter too that has found its place on the menu. The stuffed potatoes served along Veg Espetada were quite good.

Colourful burgers are rage these days and barcelos is a pioneer to introduce these  – I tried the black burger which I learnt gets is color from a combination of wholemeal flour, roasted wheat, herbs and spinach extract. The black lamb patty is also doused in mozzarella cheese and topped with jalapeno and pickled beetroot that gives the burger a tangy flavor.

I tried the popular ones like the Pomegranate and Rosemary white sangria, Orange and Cloves Sangria, White Peachy Sangria, CinnamonApple Sangria, White Lemongrass Sangria and 5 ingredients Portuguese sangria – Each of them good in their own different league.

Apart from Sangrias, Barcelo has some superb nitrogen based mocktails and cocktails as well.

PS: I was invited by the management of Barcelos Hyderabad to review the restaurant. The Opinions expressed are honest and unbiased.
