Howrah-Hyderabad SF Express Food Festival – Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Hyderabad Banjara Hills

There are few cuisines in the world that have as much variety as Bengali cuisine. The Howrah-Hyderabad SF Express Food Festival at Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Hyderabad Banjara Hills definitely managed to make this foodie happy with the quintessential delicacies present on the menu. Chef Chandra Shekar Pandey has put together some of the most loved Bengali dishes. Chennar Kebab, Baigun Bhaja, Fish Kabiraji, Kosha Mangsho, Aloo Posto, shukto, Murshidabad Biryani, Mishti pulao, Mishti Doi, Basundi, Rosogulla, Lancha, etc are some of the things on offer.

Invited for a media preview of the festival, first up was the Puchka, Singara and Kathi Roll which is found in every nook & corner of Kolkata. The use of tangy tamarind water with spiced up bhaja masala for the Puchka and the stuffing of peas, potatoes and peanuts was exactly as how you’d find on any Kolkata street. The kathi roll on the other hand was a quite dry and chewy and I would’ve preferred the kathi roll with an egg in it. Next up were Vegetable Chop & Beguni which Radisson nailed it while Fried Rui and Fried Fish Egg were good in their own league.

The mains featured all the wholesome delicacies a Bong could wish for. Started off with Shukto & Aloo Poshto followed by Sorshe Bhendi, Rui Machher and Jhol, Bhaat (Rice). The Luchi and Kosha Mangsho is something that I would always long for and true to my expectations this one was outstanding and perhaps my favorite of the lot. Loved it ! The combination of Ghee Baat and Rui Machher Jhol is a definite comfort food that I truly relished.

Langcha, Chhanar Jilipi, Kalakand

Langcha, Chhanar Jilipi, Kalakand and Mishti Doi were desserts on offer of which the langcha and channar Jilipi was my favorite of the lot. The meal ended with a typical Kolkata Meetha Paan.

The décor at Chill – the all-day dining restaurant of Radisson Blu Plaza has been changed to resemble the prominent places of Kolkata like the Howra Bridge. All in all, the food festival offers you an unforgettable feasting of the time-honored delicacies of Bengali Cuisines.

Thumbs up for this one !
