Trivandrum – the capital city of Kerala is endowed with exceptional scenic beauty and is often the most exciting gateway to the God’s Own Country. Thanks to the lovely people at Mystikal Holidays and Fortune Hotel The South Park who invited me to stay over and experience the property during my recent visit to Trivandrum. I was there for 2D/1N

The Room on the 8th floor, gave a bird’s eye view of the bustling MG Road – the commercial hub in Trivandrum
A personalized Welcome letter from the Mr Ajit Kumar – General Manager was a nice gesture.
After checking into my room and freshening up a bit, I headed to Regency for dinner. Regency, located on the 2nd floor of the hotel is a multi-cuisine restaurant which offers a lavish elaborate buffet spread and also a range of a-la-carte dishes. The ambiance was quite contemporary with a touch of colonial feel.
I was greeted by Joginder Pal Singh – the Executive Chef of the hotel who briefed me through the entire menu. The menu was chock-full of the choicest dishes from the regional Kerala, Indian and Continental delicacies. Left the choice to Chef Joginder and he in turn surprised me with an upscale fine Punjabi experience.
Started off with an assorted platter of Malai Paneer Roll, Hara Bara Kebab and Crispy Chicken which were absolutely delicious. Chef explains how most of his guests love Crispy Chicken so much so that he’s had repeated guests who have come only to relish that. For the mains – Dal makhani, Butter Chicken and Malai kofta was on offer along with Missi Roti, Amritsari Kulcha and Butter Naan which served as the perfect accompaniment. Each of these dishes were as authentic as it could get. Chef explains that each of his dishes are time tested recipes which were handed down to him from his ancestors. With soothing Classic music playing in the background and food as delightful as this, I couldn’t have asked for a better Punjabi food. The moong dal halwa was the ultimate show stopper for a gastronomical treat.
Day 2 began with my morning tea in bed – a treat that I don’t usually miss after which visited the famous Padmanabha Swamy Temple for the early morning darshan which was just 2km from the hotel. Also chanced upon the opportunity to visit Palayam which is famous for a religious confluence where one can find three major religions all at one point – St Joseph Church, Juma Masjid and Ganapathi Temple.
Once back at the hotel, proceeded to the breakfast where an elaborate spread with Indian, Kerala and Continental fare was on offer. Without much experimentation decided on the humble South Indian wada which were served with three assorted chutneys – each as good as it could get.
Post breakfast, I checked out of the hotel .. sigh!
Needless to say, I had a delightful experience at Fortune Hotel The South Park and I can’t wait to come back again!
