The ongoing Italian Food Fiesta at Radisson Blu, Banjarahills is a one stop destination to relish on all your favorite Italian delicacies. Spread in a buffet format, I was slightly skeptical about Italian food in this format but my apprehensions were put to rest when i had the opportunity to experience it for a Friday dinner.
To begin with, absolutely loved the cold cuts spread that had Prosciutto dolce – a cured raw ham, Salsiccia made of ground pork spices and herbs, highly seasoned Pork chorizo and assorted variety of cheese.
On the salads front, couldn’t get enough of Insalata di Frutti di mare – a seafood salad with chunks of seafood that of fish, shrimp, calamari all cooked and tossed in lemon juice & olive oil dressing together with parsley.
Different variety of breads like the Ciabatta, Foccacia ligure, Foccacia pugliese, Schiacciata etc were also on offer which Chef Teja made sure to serve them fresh on the table with gentle brushing of olive oil and a swirl of balsamic vinegar.
The wood fired thin crust non –veg pizza on offer with its heavy loaded cheese and seasonings was like a storm of different flavors and indeed one of the better quality pizza I have had in a long time.
On the mains, thoroughly enjoyed Pollo De Parmegiana Basillico – chicken with cheese, tomatoes & basil and Agilio Cippino – a garlic stew of seafood. The mushroom & sundried tomatoes Frittata was another delight that I couldn’t get enough of. Ratatouille stuffed peppers and Risotto De Zucca for the vegetarians was well appreciated while Risotto De Zucca was just about decent enough.
Other than the huge spread of the mains, there was a live pasta station where one could choose from homemade pasta, long pasta, short pasta, tomato concasse, white cream sauce, pesto sauce and assortment of veggies & meats.
The desserts did not have anything exciting on offer other than the green tea flavored Panacotta and Tiramisu.
“If it grows together, it goes together” is an old food & wine pairing adage that applies especially well to Italian cuisine. Italians rarely drink without food and true to the culture one could match these Italian delicacies with a range of Italian wines that are specially on offer during the food promotion. I chose Danzante over others because of its elegant aromas and fruit flavor that pairs with a variety of Italian food and I wasn’t disappointed one bit.
Priced at Rs 1545 AI the spread barring the desserts is definitely a treat for any Italian food lovers. Brilliant curation by Chef Chandrashekar Pandey & Chef Teja !
Thumbs up for this one !
