Mamagoto – with its quirky décor, reinterpreted Pan-Asian food and constant New Menus is a busy brand. Just a few months ago I was there for the launch of its new branch in Hitech City and then comes the launch of a new Hawker’s Hall menu.
The Hawker’s Hall menu is an interpretation of what one finds in Singapore, Malay, Thai and Indonesian cuisine – bold, brash and creative. Invited for tasting of the new menu , the first to follow was Thai Puchka which was bursting with all Thai Flavors. I loved how the puris were presented with betel leaves and served with a sweet ginger sauce. The bird’s eye chilli will definitely give you the much required spicy twist. Thai Puchka was the perfect starter before I plunged into the rest of the menu.
Next up was the humble American corn salad with papaya that is given a twist with the som tum inspired dressing – a welcome change that I wouldn’t mind exploring ! Anyone who loves the Thai Red Curry will for sure love the BBQ Red Curry Wings that are served with chilli dusted onion rings and side slaw.
SuperHot Mama comes with fried tofu or fried fish with a super-hot spicy topping of red chilli, basil and garlic paste. I personally do not like fried variant of tofu and therefore this was just about okay. Chicken in Hot Basil Sauce was my personal favorite of the lot. The ingredients of baby corn, red chilli with kafir lime leaf and basil gave the regular Hot basil sauce a distinct flavor and it was so good that you’d be tempted to go for another serving. Loved it !
I was pleasantly surprised to see Sukiyaki been featured on the menu. Sukiyaki is one of the most popular hot pot dishes of Japan. At Mamagoto, the dish is served either with chicken or tofu. I opted for Tofu variant and that came with five spice tofu stirred fried with vegetables and a chilli sesame sauce. The flavours of the sauce were very similar to the teriyaki sauce together making it the perfect one pot meal.
Other than the dishes mentioned above, the menu also includes Aunty’s Platter that comes with an assorted mix of Mamagoto’s appetizers, Lamb Sticks served on lemon grass skewers and Aubergine & Okra Medley
The Hawker’s hall menu is available at both Banjara Hills and Kondapur Outlet.
