I fondly remember Ohris and its chain of restaurants for the awesome memories I have associated with it since childhood. Being a sizzler’s person – I was upset, agitated and angry that one of my favorite and only good sizzlers joint in Hyderabad shut down especially when it was at a scenic location that of Necklace Road. After a period of over two years when I heard that this same brand – Ohris 100 Degrees was once again opening its doors in the IT corridor of Hitech City, I was literally excited and couldn’t wait to try it out.
Was happy to have been invited for a bloggers table the past week, where a huge three page menu was designed for us showcasing their specialties. Located in the same premises that of Paradise, Ohris Dabha & KFC behind Shilpakala Vedika, Ohris 100 degrees is just a stone throw distance from all the major IT companies. The interiors were bright and refreshing with turquoise shades which was a welcome change. The Staff – decked up like cowboys looked interesting that went well with the theme of the food.
The menu at 100 degrees was exhaustive with interesting drinks, Short eats, wings, Nachos, Pizzas, Pastas, SIZZLERS and desserts. The bloggers menu included a selection of the best of what 100 degrees had to offer. Started off with Jeera Matka cooler which was quite refreshing to start with while the fresh complimentary focaccia breads with the strong mustard sauce was an instant hit.
100 Degree Nachos – a crisp tortilla chips served with cheddar was outstanding, infact one of the best I’ve had in recent time while the Mexican salsa was just about okay. The section called Wings World looked promising where chicken wings is served with a choice of any of the 6 levels of sauces which starts from 0 degree to 100 degree. I personally loved the Buffalo wings at 40 Degree, Spicy Pepper at 60 Degree and Bhut Jolokia at 100 Degree. The Mexican Habanero at 80 Degree is usually quite spicy but this one lacked flavor and was a disappointment.
With a heavy spicy rush after the wings experience, the staff recommended us their Classic Cold Coffee and trust me when I say this, the cold coffee here is definitely one of the best you’d find in the city. Of the Florida Salad & Caesar Salad on offer, the Caesar Salad with its parmesan topping was better than Florida Salad which was very low in terms of its dressing.
Next up was the Pastas with the all-time regular Pasta Alfredo and their signature 100 Degree Barbeque Pasta on offer. Seldom do I come across a place that serves Pasta with Barbeque sauce and this one was a clear winner. With homemade Smokey yet spicy barbeque sauce this one was just too good while the Pasta Alfredo was just about okay.
Of the fresh dough Pizza – the Margarita Pizza was well appreciated but the inclusion of the California BBQ Chicken Pizza took away the entire credit. It was just too good to be ignored and all the slices vanished within seconds. The Tandoori Chicken & Italian Veggie Fiesta did not appeal to us after the BBQ Chicken.
By now we were quite stuffed with such huge spread but the very sight of SIZZLERS got us excited. 100 Degrees Steak Sizzler, Hokkaido Chicken, Mixed Grill, Mutton Chops, Coriander Fish and Prawns Sizzlers was each of our order that we pre-decided to share, hence the selective order! The first of the lot was Prawns Sizzlers that was served in pepper sauce with an assortment of veggies and mash potato was the star of the lot. The Coriander fish fillets served with garlic sauce and pepper was the second best. 100 degree steak sizzler came with a grilled chicken and sautéed mushrooms in mushroom sauce was delightfully great and should definitely appeal to any chickenitarian. The Hokkaido Chicken was just about decent while the Mixed Grill looked promising but fell short of expectations. Infact the pepper sauce used for Mixed Grill was not very flavorful. The Mutton chops on the other hand too fell short of expectations owing to the pepper sauce. But on a general note, Ohris 100 degrees still has interesting sizzlers on the menu which needs at least another couple of visits.
Lastly, the Classic Apple Pie for desserts & their signature Sizzling Walnut brownie was well appreciated especially the Apple Pie for its Cinnamon flavored apples.
The staff was energetic throughout our three hours of marathon and the manger on duty Mr Ravi made sure each and every minute details were addressed and every feedback taken in positive stride. All in all, the new Ohris 100 degrees with its interesting options looks promising and if you’re in the vicinity of Hitech City this is one joint you shouldn’t miss.
Thumbs up for this one !
