Oriental Bar & Kitchen at Park Hyatt Hyderabad stylishly interprets the concept of traditional oriental experience. The eclectic food promotions that happened last year truly conjured up so many wonderful flavours that they absolutely delivered for a satisfying experience on almost all occasions. My favorite was the Thai and Vietnamese food promotion!
Come 2017 and OBK has upped the ante by enhancing the menu to add more options to its clientele. Chef Azrul Samah – Sous Chef, Hyatt Regency Makkah who has an impressive international career has been specially flown in to enhance the menu.
Invited for a tasting, we started off with Gado Gado – a potpourri of assorted vegetables, tofu, eggs and spicy peanut sauce which was absolutely delicious with bold flavors & crisp ingredients.
The Stuffed Tofu served along with sweet chilli sauce was a vegetarian’s delight while Chicken Murtabak was my personal favorite of the lot. With a filling of minced chicken and eggs – this one was the best I’ve had. Special mention to the Malaysian Chicken Curry that was served as an accompaniment to the Murtabak that perfectly paired alongside.
Curry Laksa served with sambal was another favorite of the evening. Nicely balanced with all the flavors of sweet, sour, salt and spiciness – the laksa definitely brings smile onto the table. Singapore Chilli Prawns and Roasted Chicken in Asian herbs were as authentic as it could get and went perfectly well with the Ginger flavored rice.
Chicken in Perchik Sauce was my favorite among the mains – slightly spicy and with a base of coconut milk infused with spices, this was too good to be missed. Lamb Randang – slow cooked in coconut milk, lemongrass and chilies was also quite good.
Finished the meal with Banana Fritters and Mango
Oriental Bar & Kitchen at Park Hyatt has been one of the first few restaurants in the city to boast of authentic menu prepared by chefs flown in from around Asia – the new menu continues to live up to its philosophy. While the a la carte menu serves a range of Asian culinary traditions, the restaurant’s seasonal menus will continue to tempt any devoted fans of excellent inspired cuisines including Malaysian, Thai, Oriental and Singaporean to name a few.
