Sheraton Hyderabad | Regal Kitchens of Oudh – Chef Rehman Mujeebur

Feast the casual yet refined all day dining restaurant at Sheraton Hyderabad is known to come up with food promotions with a contemporary approach. The ongoing “Regal Kitchens of Oudh” is the latest one where Chef Rehman Mujeebur from Kitchenette-E-Awadh has been roped in to curate the promotion.

Although I haven’t met Chef Rehman in person, I’ve heard rave reviews about his curations from North West frontier region. Chef Rehman came across as a knowledge person who is business management graduate. “Cooking is in our legacy and I had to return to my roots” he says, before taking us through the elaborate spread for the evening.

Invited for a bloggers table, started off our meal with Galawati Kebab – an absolute melt in the mouth served with a typical Lucknowi style bread. Surprisingly this was heavy on a spice, perhaps to appease the local palate.

Murgh Hazrat Mahal served on skewers was a different take on chicken tikka. Marinated with perhapas the most unlikely ingredient of mace – this one was quite good! Mahi Ambali Tikka that followed next was just about decent.

For the vegetarians, there was Dal Shammi – lentil based patty, Paneer Kutimirch Tikka – a yellow chilli flavored tikka and Annas Ke Boti – grilled pineapple cubes.

Before moving onto the mains, Chef Rehman recommends we try the breads separately. Naan E Tanak, Gilafi Kulcha and Sheermal were quite addictive and I personally enjoyed them as it is.

The spread for main course was well balanced with equal range of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies. The Murgh Methi was my favorite of the lot followed by Martaban Machhli. The Badami Gosht, Aloo Dum Awadhi, Gobhi Mussalam, Dal Sagpatha and Paneer Kada Masala were some of the dishes on offer.

There was two rice based dishes – Methi Pulao and Awadhi Murgh Pulao. Methi Pulao with green chutney accompaniment was quite distinct, something that I never had before while Awadhi Murgh Pulao was good in its own different league.

The desserts are something that I don’t miss out on – Of Anjeer Halwa, Awadhi Sheer Kurma and Chuandar ka Kheer on offer, I enjoyed Anjeer Halwa the most.
