Off late Hyderabad’s restaurant industry has emerged with the drive-In culture that offers multiple options for eating all under one place. Gone are those days where one had limited options to quench their late night hunger pangs. Drive-Ins come as boon offering multiple food options almost round the clock where one could easily drive in and order food from any of the outlet at the very comfort of their vehicle.
Although the entire stretch of Jubilee Hills & Madhapur has seen a sudden burst of this novel concept, the options are in plenty. Breaking the Jinx with their unconventional offerings comes “The Street – Drive In” that was launched on 21st Feb, 2016. Located on 100 feet road in the lane just behind Meridian International School, Ayappa Society, Madhapur – The Street is just a stone throws distance from all the major IT hubs.
Was happy to have been invited for the launch where I had the opportunity to get a first-hand experience of the place and as well a tete-a-tete with not just the owners of The Street but the individual outlet owners as well. My first impression of the place was “WOW”. An elegant theme with most of my favorite outlets lined up on one side. Just above it is an enclosed Air Conditioned sit out area, from where one could enjoy the live screening of their sporting event. The other half of The Street features a state of the art sports arena with a football court, netted Cricket space and a beach volleyball. With this first impression I must confess The Street is a Drive-In Restaurant plus Sports Center and Arts & Entertainment packaged together that would surely appeal to everyone.
One of the main attractions at The Street is the list of food chains it had on offer. The list includes, Wich Please – very popular Sandwich place that has carved a niche for itself in the street food category, Mama Mia Italia – Secunderabad’s favorite wood fired pizza that needs no introduction, Wingster – the first and exclusive place dedicated for the love of wings, WOFL – a place that offers different varieties of waffles & pancakes, Godavari Ruchulu– an exclusive place for South Indian delicacies, Eat Burp Repeat – a Continental affair, House of Indian Breads – simple Indian breads offered in different way, Makers of Milkshakes – the city’s first exclusive milkshakes store, Bademiyan Kebabs – the pearl of Hyderabadi kebabs which is a legendary name in itself, Dosa Place – the first and an exclusive place for different verities of dosa and Frosticks – a unique ice cream stick experience. Although I have tired most of these brands individually, was happy to see them all under one roof. A detailed blog particularly on what to try at each of these places would follow later.
The evening started off with a casual meet & greet interaction with Tollywood celebrities – Nandamuri Balakrishna, Regina Cassandra & Sai Dharam Tej and gradually unfolded with a Stand-up Comedy Act with Funny Side Up & a power packed Rock performance by The Tapes.
With so many things under one roof The Street is a place to mingle, cheer, chill, play and of course gorge on the lip-smacking food it has on offer…Park Play & Eat is the mantra of The Street
Thumbs up for this one !
