Prego is synonymous for its fresh and delicious Italian fare. With its upbeat and lively atmosphere, Prego is certainly one of the favorite Italian dining destinations in the city. Although I have been here on many occasions, I couldn’t but accept an invite for a special handcrafted menu curated by Italian Culinary Ambassador – Master Chef Roberto Boggio.
As the promotion is aptly titled Authentic Italian Food at an Italian Restaurant by an Italian Chef – Chef Boggio has been specially flown in to curate the promotion that would span for 10 days. Chef Boggio comes across as humble person who is passionate about his culinary skills. A quick chat with him and you’d be wow’ed by his dramatic way of narrating each of the dishes on the menu.
Started off with Tartara Di Asparagi Con Salsa Di Taleggio – an Asparagus pudding with taleggio cheese sauce. Taleggio is a smear ripened Italian cheese. This, with asparagus pudding was incredibly delicious which will have you craving for more.
Next up was Minestrone Ala Genovese – a distinct minestrone soup with a healthy dallop of pesto swirled in before serving. A hearty soup bursting with fresh flavors. Loved it !
Double Wafer Marinara Pizza that followed next was a stunning thin crust pizza with marinara & layered pesto sauce and generous amount of sea food toppings. With a simple sauce, the seafood toppings really was the star of this delicious pizza. Absolutely brilliant !
Sundried Pomodoro Ravioli was first up on the Pasta course. Ravioli layered with sundried tomato and melted in Pomodoro sauce is a cheese lover’s delight. But the star of the day was Agnolotti alla Monferrina – a classic agnolotti stuffed pasta served a la monferrina style.
A one pan meal of La Cotoletta Impanata – the classic chicken pane served with Rosemary potato that followed next was good in its own league.
The dessert sample of Pannacotta and Tiramissu was a perfect end to an exceptional rendezvous with Chef Boggio.
