The “Eat the Street – Street foods from the world” promotion at Amara, Trident Hyderabad takes you on a culinary journey through the alleyways, boulevards and flavors of some of the popular streets of the world. From the Far East to the Tex Mex, to the Middle East, European and Caribbean – Chef Vijay under the guidance of Executive Chef Manik Mangotra has come up with an elaborate array of dishes with a separate counter for each cuisine.
Started off trying the delicious Chicken Satay, soft and yet spongy Baos and Vegetable Ramen from Sawadika counter. Swadhika means “Hello” in Thai, had some excellent Thai & Oriental Dishes. Mango Sticky Rice Pudding from this counter shouldn’t be missed!
The European section had its burgeoning food scene displayed that truly reflected its veritable mélange of cultures and cuisines. From mini sliders with chicken & Coleslaw to couscous stuffed Bell Peppers and Gazpacho to the Gatsby, I loved everything on offer on this counter. The Gazpacho was a perfect summer retreat.
From tacos and tortillas to spicy soups, most of us were inclined toward the Tex-Mex counter that included Mac & Cheese, Corn on the cob and Mini Sliders. The glazed donuts on display were definitely attention grabbing. I tried the tenderloin slider and was mightily impressed.
The Chatori Galli or the Indian counter had all the popular street food like the Chole Bature, Pav bhaji, Dhabeli, Fish Pakora and Bhel Puri. The Lakhanpur ke Bhalle and Litti Choka were my favourites among them. While Lakhanpur ke bhalle was a spicy treat to kill the heat, the crowned jewel of bihar – litti choka was good in its own different league. Was also nice to see a dosa counter as part of this counter too.
The Carribean counter included the Jerk Chicken with coconut rice which was packed with robust flavours and warm spices – an absolute delight! Caribbean Tenderloin Patty with its thin, flaky and buttery crust and the highly seasoned beef filling was one of my personal favourites on the menu.
Each counter also had desserts from its own region – Dark Raisin Cake, Crepes, Waffles, Churros, Cannolis, Gulab Jamun and Rabri were some of them on offer.
I thoroughly enjoyed sampling the various street foods. All in all, a brilliant execution of the menu especially in dividing the entire spread in multiple counters and also retaining the authenticity of flavours. The promotion is on until 26th of May.
Thumbs up for this one !
